7 Keys Projects in Terai, Nepal and Bihar, India

Terai, Darbhanga and Madhubani district is a highly populated area of Nepal & India where women frequently bear 8 - 10 children, many who do not survive infancy. It is a place where humans are trafficked for sex, labor, and domestic servitude. Children are forced to work, women have no rights, and girls are forced into marriage at a young age.

Creative and Economic Empowerment for Women

We provide marginalized women with education and creative skills training to become professional fashion designers, seamstresses, embroiderers, weavers, and jewelry designers.

End Period Poverty

Menstruating women and girls are prohibited from participating in normal activities because society considers them “impure”.

Education for Empowerment

We have designed  backpacks filled with educational supplies for playgroups, primary,  and secondary level students, providing all their requirements for one year of study.

MENSTRUATION HEALTH

We created a one-day workshop using an illustrated comic book that shows the benefits of menstruation hygiene. Reusable, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and waterproof, sanitary pads are donated so Nepali women can experience their periods with comfort and freedom. Menstrual hygiene kits lasting 2-3 years are made by local women. Local leaders and nurses created a one-day workshop.
